Nesting for Ace

Since we know Momma will definitely be nesting and doing a million projects to get ready for Ace, she thought she’d utilize her little enthusiastic helper to paint!

First, Bo diligently washed the changing table and even wore himself out -note the last pic where he is literally scrubbing the side while resting on his back. SUCH HARD WORK…

Then comes the paint…

I honestly don’t have one messy painting pic to post, because he was pretty much diligently focused for several hours and quite the little perfectionist painter! He loved saying it was for “Ace” and singing his “choo-choo soul” song while he worked!

Can this lil’ cheeser get any sweeter? He is soooo excited for his little brother, and I can’t wait to remind him of that over and over when Ace drools on, spits-up on and diligently breaks Bo’s prized possessions on a daily basis.

A Furry af-Fair!

It’s State Fair time, and I LOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVE it!!!  My family still loves to go and yes, us country bumpkins still like to spend most of the time around all the animal exhibits. Saying the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree with Bo is putting it lightly. Bo was borderline inappropriate with the innocent and sweet animals in the petting zoo.

Who me?

I thought perhaps he had gotten more of the anti-animal Argenal genetics because of the way he’s abused our poor dog for the last year, but I was wrong. Future Farmers of America…watch out! It began innocently enough with a gentle- sharing of Sponge Bob with the local bacon2b…

But then things got a little hairy…

I was laughing hysterically from the sidelines watching my little Ace Ventura squeeze, kiss and longingly hug all the poor pets. I wasn’t worried until he literally threw a huge bear-hug on a LARGE LLAMA, and then, he proceeded to ring the animal’s neck…yes, by “ring” I mean shake his neck back and forth like a rag doll. AWESOME.

“Mimi, um Mimi, can ya’ not let Bo attempt to love strangle the largest animal in the petting zoo?

We promptly made our exit with bribery of a train ride; it’s amazing how avoiding tantrums goes hand-in-hand with the exploitation of their favorite things. : )

Besides the Bo-menagerie hiccup, we EMBRACED all the agri-tastic things the State Fair has to offer and we had a blast for five hours. From posing with Clydesdales, to petting giant sturgeon, attempting roller coasters (one trip and he was SCREAMING for his life), riding tractors and flying jets, Bo had perhaps one of the best days of his life.

And Bo and I DEVOURED a foot-long corndog, chocolate frosties, and cinnamon buns which are always located in the County Exhibits area. Don’t miss out on the buns or the dog! Soooooo worth it, especially when your baby to be “NEEDS” it!

And like the experienced briber that I am, I always hold true to my promises! We ended the day on the monorail train for Bo, and Kate and I finally got to put up our swollen, crying feet! 

Gus Leaves his 20’s and Chico State Behind…

Nick Walsh’s surprise was PERFECTION! Gus had an extremely stressful week with interviewing at Davis and still hadn’t heard by Friday, which happened to be his 30th birthday! He came home from work that afternoon full of anxiety and  doubt. It was all erased when he looked out the window and saw our favorite Uncle Nico walking down the street!

 

His birthday night out consisted of celebrations all over downtown. Let’s just say I have NEVER and I mean NEVER seen someone so AWFUL on a mechanical bull as my husband. Is that mean?

The next day we did outdoor games and a BBQ in true Chico-style with our favorite Chico family…THE CLINKS!!! Nico and Tex bonded and the baseball game was a hit with all the boys!

Happy Birthday Gus!!! Gus and I both agree that we definitely FEEL 30 (though, I am still 29!). I think when you wake up everyday at 6:30 ready to change diapers and play monster trucks, your roaring twenties seem far far away, but we both agree we couldn’t be happier about where we are in the 3rd decade of our short lives!

 

As most of you know, I do have a pretty good excuse for not blogging for almost a month! WE MOVED!!! Gus is now a coach at our Alma Mater…GO AGS, and we are now living in Sac-town! This blog showcases our LAST weekend in Chico and we had no idea at the time! Let’s just say it’s IMPOSSIBLE NOT to fall in love with Chico, CA, especially when we lived in such a fabulous location and darling neighborhood!

Bo and Momma spent 2 years in this backyard planting and playing in the dirt!

Father’s Day brought us one last visit from Nana and Poppa and one last walk to downtown to chow on chips at Tres Hombres and devour Gelato from Powell’s!

I definitely shed some healthy tears looking at our empty house on the end of moving day, but I’m also so EXCITED for the future! We are now only 20 minutes from my family and loving living in Sacramento!  Like I said, it was a very bittersweet move, but I am BEYOND thrilled about our new house: it was built in 2006 – WOW, what a difference 50 years makes! : )

Sister Showered in PINK!

After many, many, MANY Bo-bo days of blue trains, red trucks and yellow helicopters, I was so excited to PINK it up for Kate’s baby shower. On July 9th, Baby Reece was showered with much chic-pink-love by many friends and family!

It was a beautiful summer day and mommy2b, Kate, was sporting a perfect summer glow!

Great food, Great games, GREAT GALS and lots of PINK love!

I couldn’t be more EXCITED for Reece to arrive!!! Auntie Kate will soon be an AMAZING Momma and Bo will have a brand new baby cousin to cuddle!!! That is, unless, Ace beats Reece to the finish line. : )
