Christmasing with Mimi

My Mom flew out to bring a little holiday cheer to Texas and these two caged animals couldn’t get enough of their wild hats and Mimi’s energy to play!

My Mom is young at heart, spontaneous, and pretty much up for anything! She was a great guest and she was so positive about our new city! WE.MISS.MIMI.

Paint Wars

What started out as a sweet painting project for Mimi…

turned into a truly EPIC Battle of the Brushes!

Ace’s unsolicited attack paved a path for an unbelievably hysterical afternoon.

Big Bro Bo was a great sport, despite getting a final attack to the eye.

Acey, on the other hand, was quite satisfied. It’s called Payback.

“Gingerman House”

For Lynsey, Bo and I, it was our very first time making a “Gingerman House” and I’m not going to lie, it was kind of hard to make. Seriously.

Tah-dah!  Notice the festive pumpkin patch? A sweet way to utilize stale Halloween candy. : )

IMG_3076

The crazed napper, Acer, awoke to a delectable scene, and he decided to scream incessantly for the pumpkin patch until I gave him some “homemade christmas glue.” Yummy.

IMG_3072

The Christmas craziness is upon us and I LOVE every minute with these two elves and all of my helpers!

The Evil Eye

IMG_3060

I can’t remember if I’ve blogged about this yet. Either way, it’s so freakin’ hilarious every time he does it; he deserves his own entry…again. I LOVE THIS SILLY BOY.

Holiday Bust, Part II

Yes, we went back that night. I know, I seem like the WORST mom in the world, but hear me out. We get back to the hotel and Bo doesn’t nap. He is jumping around the room, on the beds, having the best the time ever. So, since he LOVES Christmas lights, I decide we MUST MUST go back because who knows “when we will ever get this chance, because of basketball season?!!!”

And then round two starts off like this:

IMG_2687

He didn’t even get to see darling Christmas Mater, because he was already OUT for the COUNT in the stroller. He did not stir until the next morning.

IMG_2691

So while sleeping beauty rested, we enjoyed the beautiful lights and decorations for Christmas. For anyone who hasn’t been there during the Holidays, and loves the season, it’s a MUST.

We got to brave the crowds with Adam and Danielle (Rice Asst. and his fabulous girlfriend!) and we saw the holiday parade and even got to ride Small World all lit up and decorated, before we too called it night.

IMG_2701

Acey was a little trooper and LOVED his 2nd Disneyland visit before his 2nd b-day (lucky kid, though he will never remember)!

And to cap off a truly rough vacation, Danielle bought Acer his own SIMBA, which is like gold in the Argenal casa. So sweet and thoughtful for this little man who roamed the Hilton Halls like a wild lion all week.

Thanksgiving Holiday Bust, Part 1

It’s no secret that since we moved to Houston, my kids have been consistently SICK. So it came as quite the shock (insert sarcastic tone), that as soon as we got settled into the Hilton in Anaheim, we felt right at home, fevers and all.

IMG_2520

We had traveled with the team for the trip, so Gus had to work a lot during the stay. Let’s just say, it was a rough trip for Momma having to be quarantined to the hotel room for almost 3 days with sick kiddos, but mostly, it was a torturous trip for poor Bo. He was so sick and literally right around the corner from the BEST PLACE ON EARTH.

IMG_2517

We passed the sick days watching weird cartoons on cable, (which included a Star Wars Lego cartoon that is HILARIOUS),occasionally wandering the halls in  the stroller trying to get some “fresh” air, and jumping on the beds and giggling when fevers broke.

Finally, Bo seemed back to himself after spending most of the Thanksgiving Holiday in the Hilton, so we ventured out to Downtown Disney. This was definitely the BEST time he would have all week.

IMG_2560

Bo was feeling great; he built and raced a lego car while Ace ate some.

We assumed the next day, Disneyland day, Bo would be completely better. Not true. So, below are several pictures of us faking like we are having the best time ever.

But, apparently, Bo and Ace didn’t get the “fake smiles” memo.

IMG_2590

It wasn’t all a bust. We actually did have fun and Bo and Ace gave us plenty of real laughs as well!

The high of the day was definitely romping around Tom Sawyer island with Uncle Mike, Auntie Molls, and Grandpa Frank! It was so nice of them to come!!!

IMG_2677

The low of the trip was when we truly realized he was still sick; he started crying furiously when we got on Pirates of the Caribbean. This ride is all he could talk about for WEEKS, and when we went this summer he LOVED it. I’m not so sure he enjoyed it this time around:

IMG_2671

I think adrenaline and pure excitement of being at Disneyland helped him not feel sick initially, but after a few hours he was EXHAUSTED and we headed back to Home Sweet Hilton.

IMG_2685

Exhausted, yet never losing an iron-grip on that new sword, of course.
