Bo was in bed with a fever for two days and Ace was LITERALLY running the show. He was hilariously entertaining, even more talkative, and completely RAMBUNCTIOUS. Is this what I have to look forward too when Bo goes to preschool in the fall? BRING IT, ACEY!

Darling Delayed Nutcracker

So my little darling Bo was Nutcracker obsessed this Christmas, and since I was (and still am) obsessed with Amazon, I ordered him his own Nutcracker costume online.

Well, let’s just say I pondered returning it many times because he had ZERO interest in putting it on. So, feeling defeated but too lazy to return it, I stashed it in his costume bin (yes, he has one) and almost 3 months later he decides he wants to be a soldier.

I’d say it was worth the wait…

Beach or Bust!

Gus and I WILL RETIRE to the beach. So now that I’ve written it down, it WILL come true. So yeah, we both LOVE everything about the beach and will EMBRACE any beach that falls in our lap. So begins an unlikely love affair with…Galveston?

Lets be honest, to any preschooler or toddler a beach is a beach is a beach…

The boys loved exploring around the planks!

They both found new swords…

And saw TONS of blue jellies!

Not only were there salty waves (barely), soft sand, shells, and seaweed…there was a dead fish. And lo and behold, it was the cherry on top.

We TRULY had an UNBELIEVABLE day. The boys were laughing, jumping and running around like little explorers who just hit land. IT WAS AWESOME. Galveston is beautiful with it’s own unique gulf charm, and though the water isn’t California blue, it’s also not California cold.

And at about an hour away, it’s just long enough to make the drive home blissful for everyone.

Macro Faces…of Boys

I love taking pictures of my kids. Hard to believe, I know. ; )

But even though I get to spend almost every hour of daylight looking at them (cry for help? heehee), I still can’t fathom how fast their little faces change. Every time I start writing about it, I cry. Why does thinking about your kids growing up make you so tragically nostalgic, yet there is no greater joy than seeing your child learn?

So, the up close and personal pics of my super growers are special to my heart because I can see details. Details that change every day.

This special day at the Zoo is over…but will this sweet child ever learn to use a napkin?

And the younger they are the faster they grow, so it’s even more crucial to capture the little baby Ace. The pure joy I felt for his momentous playground achievements filled my heart on this day, but now looking back through a macro lens, I don’t see a baby at all.

From tiny babies to tender boys. And there it is. Who has a tissue for me?

He loved it, but wasn’t super psyched about the ice headache.

Argenal Christmas Card

We decided to embrace the true spirit of Texas Country for our 2012 Christmas card. So I thought I’d share the rest of the pics from that hilarious photo shoot.

Perhaps the most memorable part about that day was the drive home when Bo broke the silence with concerned brows foreshadowing his very pensive question: “We were cowboys. But, Momma, what were you?”
