Cabo 2011!!!

Don’t we all look like we had the BEST TIME EVER? Well, we did...most of us, most of the time. Do you see that little sweet-natured, perfectly content toddler in the middle? PICTURES ARE OH SO DECEIVING!!!!!!!!!

IMG_5480

Gus and I have NEVER EVER been so exhausted in our lives. Note to self: NEVER take a teething toddler on vacation. Obviously, this is a very pointless note to self, because you can never time your vacation around molar activity in your toddlers mouth, but do they have an app for that?

In fact, I’m so exhausted after our “vacation” and pregnantly overhormonal, I can’t (won’t) even add pics. Ok, I’m being lazy, but I’m 7 months pregnant and it’s raining on June 6th. Gimme a break. : ) Did I mention its 50-something degrees outside? I just want to do NOTHING during Bo’s nap, except catch up on all the OC Housewives’ drama.

Below is a link to all the craziness and fun (yes, we did have lots of fun!!!), but wow, I’m so so so so so sooooooooooooo glad my lil’ guy is back to normal. We were terrified this was the new terrible two’s Bo-Bo. BUT, thankfully, he is pretty much back to his precious precocious self with a little more attitude and a few more “no’s.”  But what do you do with a toddler that thinks time-outs are funny? YIKES.

Thanks to “SUZAAANNNNEEE” a.k.a “Bolty”, Uncle J, and Grandma for being patient with our little rugrat, and for all your helping hands!!! We sincerely had a BLAST with you all week!

Trains, Rain and Romance!

Grandma Noreen gave us the amazing gift of an adult-only weekend to celebrate our five year anniversary, so while we waited for Gram, we got to spend an amazing Friday afternoon at the Train Museum with Bo!  Let’s just say Bo is CUCKOO for CHOO-CHOOS!

IMG_5127IMG_5136IMG_5144IMG_5133

The museum is $9 per adult (kind of expensive!?) and free for Bo, but totally worth it! He loved seeing all the huge engines and of course, the Toy Train exhibit upstairs! It was Thomas the Train HEAVEN!

After Grandma picked up Bo, Gus and I headed to the Sheraton in downtown Sacramento for a weekend without total Bo domination: we get to stay at restaurants as long as we want, sleep in as late as we want and choose to do NOTHING all day if we want.  Our first date to Mikuni was deliciously perfect and our room had an AMAZING View of downtown!

But truth be told, we still only “slept-in” until 7:30am, and didn’t do any late-night bar-hopping, because, let’s be honest, it really was more like a trio with this little guy hanging around…IMG_5152

Sadly, we couldn’t lounge by the pool all day like I originally planned, or even go on a romantic Saturday walk because of the WIND and CHILLY RAIN (it’s May, right?)! Nonetheless, we still had an amazing time, just the two (ok, 2.5) of us, and I feel so blessed to be so happy, so in love with my husband, and so completely content with our simple little life five years after our “I do’s”!!!

Plus, and we got to go to the movies, and I overdosed on popcorn and junior mints…YES, this is FUN, pregnant or not.

Bo’s 1st Cone!

After an 8 mile family joy-walk, (yes, 8 miles! while Bo slept), we stopped at Rite Aid to get Momma a much needed mint-chip reviver! Needless to say, Bo woke up just in time to snatch my treat and enjoy his very first ice cream cone!

Queens for a Day!

My second mother’s day started out right with a sparkly card from Dad and Bo with an enclosed crown that I embraced and wore all day. IMG_5109089

It was a perfect day for Mommy, thanks to my sweet Gus and Bo, but I also loved being able to make it special for our Mommas and Grandmas, and Grandma Great as well! The rest of the morning was spent in the kitchen preparing a wonderful brunch for our WONDERFUL mothers in appreciation for well……..EVERYTHING!

Grandma Great, Grandma Noreen and the soon-to-be Vanhorn Grandparents attended our M-day brunch as well! It was so fun to have them all, and Sue Vanhorn brought perhaps the most delicious desserts I’ve ever eaten!!!

The desserts were almost too cute to eat, but when one is pregnant with another life, she must think of her child…he truly needed the additional calories. : )

With the two little buns in the over, we have four generations in this pic below! My Gram is just stunning, no? I truly hope I get those longevity genes. : )

Spring has Sprung!

What an amazing week of weather! The sun poured down on Chico all week and we couldn’t let any day pass without a full sunny-side-up embrace. There is so much to do outside, and having a toddler with overflowing enthusiasm for new experiences makes everyday an adventure!

We had a special guest with us this week! Coach Chris Cobb bunked up with us, and Bo (sorry, Dad!) has a new Bestie! Chris was on Bo’s beck-and-call for plane-flying, lego-building, and wrestle-mania all week. Chris was a TROOPER and either really loves Bo, or is just too polite to say no to his BIGGEST Fan!

Bo got to enjoy his first s’more! The one thing that he wasn’t too keen on was the heat from the fire! He kept trying to hide his face from the heat.

Do we have a s’more lover? You be the judge.

IMG_5071IMG_5072IMG_5073

We ate lunch outside everyday and clothes are always optional in the backyard.

IMG_5078IMG_5084

On our Upper Park hike, Bo got to pet his first horses! He was neighing and touching their noses. I think we have a horse whisperer in the future. Unfortunately there are no pics of Bo and the horses since I had to hold him up, and mostly because I didn’t want the riders to think I was a stalker.

Bo caught some serious air pretending he was a grasshopper and we enjoyed that 90 degree sun!IMG_5094

Almost every night, we took the walk downtown for either frozen yogurt, Farmer’s Market or a patio dinner!

Bo is turning into a little GOOFY Hannah Jr. before our eyes.
We have mixed feelings about it.

Attack of the Mall Bunny…

I had to copy my friend’s blog page and post Bo’s belated “Mall Bunny” pic as well. My only question: why oh why must this bunny look so deranged? Does it have rabies? How hard is it to make a mall bunny cute?!

Though Bo definitely looks afraid in this pic, he actually LOVED this bunny and cried in line because he had to wait, not because the rabid bunny was foaming at the mouth. If you are shaking you head in disagreement, let me confirm this photo is much easier to digest than the life-size “Lagomorph” –A rabbit is not a “rodent,” apparently, because I just googled it.

That silly smile he is wearing is from pure bunny admiration. He didn’t want to get off the bunny’s lap! It was a scene. As my friend Colleen says, “The Mall Easter Bunny is a right of passage!”
