Wild Winter Walk!

After a Stroller Mom’s chilly walk around Land Park, we popped into the Zoo to see how the animals chill out in winter.

Finn simply couldn’t bare to watch Bo hang on the ledge…IMG_7532

No worries, blue eyes…he’s a BIG BOY at  2.5 years old now and quite the Monkey climber himself.IMG_7531

Because Ali and Kyle have been so busy working on their new casa and also because of the rain, we’ve been missing our weekly Mommy meet-ups! It was so fun to let the Three Amigos -Mommies and Minis- get out to play!

Ace thought the Lions were simply riveting.IMG_7521

Guest star Daddy Van horn was comic relief as usual and also those extra strong arms are always a HUGE added bonus.

5 Months Already!

I’m so glad I wrote journal entries into Bo’s baby book, because it’s so fun to compare. Their similarities are hilarious and their differences make them preciously loved individuals..

At 5 months, Ace is a CHUB of LOVE just like his brother was, but unlike his brother he has Momma’s skin tone (sorry, Acey!)

IMG_7559

Though he will need to work a little harder on his tan, just like Bo he is a HUGE smiler and a laugher! He loves to laugh out-loud with a huge belly laugh and it’s ADDICTIVE. I will do almost ANYTHING to hear that giggle.

One thing that makes #2 so special are his lil’ blue peepers. Those things definitely aren’t turning brown like his big bros! They are the exact color of his Auntie Natalie’s which is so special because she lives far away; I have a daily reminder of her beautiful deep blues!

As far as milestones, this babe has been sleeping 10-11 hours a night for a few months now. He also rolled-over around the same time as Bo, but he is so much more content to just lay there and soak in the world. Bo was more active and needed more stimulation. Little Acey is the easiest infant on the planet…kind of a dream when your 1st child is a 2 year old and needs your attention 25/8.

As I’m writing this, Ace is sitting next to me in the couch just watching me type. Oh, it’s simply the best life!!! BLESSED.

IMG_7524

It’s not all flowers and roses, though. Ace won’t take a bottle or a pacifier! Bo was a champ at both and when you are an -on the go- Mom like I am, both of those plastic substitutes are CRUCIAL. Let’s just say Ace has shed A LOT of tears in the car.

One thing that is nice about no paci, though, is that Ace goes to sleep by simply laying him down in his crib and turning on his mobile; therefore, I won’t have to break him of the sucky habit.

New Years Eve 2011!

IMG_7542

This is an extremely belated post, but we just bought a house and moved…so cut me some slack. I do want to recall the last night of 2011, though.

Gus and I went on a date at 6pm and returned at 7:30..,pm. We had some champagne and promptly went to bed at 9:30. First time since I was 12 that I haven’t stayed up until 12. AND It was all because of this lil’ dictator. He wouldn’t take a bottle and needed Mom. SHOCKER. So, when sneaky teenager Ace decides he must stay out WAAAAY past curfew on New Year’s Eve, he will surely be getting this post in his inbox.

Thanks, Grandma for babysitting, even though it was incredibly short-lived. Ace, you owe us one. : )

The Polar Express vs. Abominable Snow Man

How many of you have read the DARLING book, The Polar Express, and then felt cheated when you saw the somewhat creepy cartoon/movie adaptation with Tom Hanks? Bo apparently LOVES CGI effects, because we watched it every single day for a solid two-weeks leading up to Christmas. Thank goodness for DVR.

Watching it over and over was somewhat torturous at times, but Bo’s imagination brought the Polar Express TO LIFE in our house and that part of it was truly magical.

Grandma’s Lionel train set, our couch, our bed…EVERYTHING became the Polar Express. I even printed out the Polar Express tickets online (Google rocks! and yes, I’m a Junkie for this kid’s imagination) and he used them to board his couch train along with the boy in the movie. He’s a method actor.

The day we stumbled upon the real POLAR EXPRESS in Old Town? Bo had me literally jumping up and down when we found it! Yeah, I am that parent that goes CRAZY for instilling Christmas spirit in her kids. But, it is SO MUCH FUN! Christmas literally takes on a whole new life when you have a toddler.

IMG_7371

All that being said, it’s January 5th and Christmas and the Polar Express are distant memories, yet he is still talking about the Abominable Snow Man from Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. When he saw this picture below of Dad and the Bumble, he starting running around the room pretending like he was punching it. Yes, it’s a love/hate relationship with this Bumble. It scares him to tears, yet he CAN’T stop himself from obsessing over this poor creature who gets his teeth pulled out by Hermie, the misfit elf. Oh, the madness.
