2014 Grammy Awards

Bucket List. Check that one off. Gus and I both absolutely LOVE music and to be given the opportunity to go the the biggest awards show for music was a once-in-a-lifetime.

Molly and Mike’s good friends were kind enough to include us on this amazing night; I’ve never felt more glamorous and all out GIDDY the entire NIGHT! And look at my hot date:

IMG_4005

One the coolest parts of the whole experience was the month leading up to it to find our outfits; my girlfriends, my sisters and even my mom and mother-in-law gave me their input and excited ideas. It was so fun just to get the opportunity to dress up, not to mention go a live concert of some of the best collaborations ever!!!

Renttherunway.com was good to us, and I highly recommend it for any event. Our trio of dresses ended up being quite patriotic, and this was not on purpose. This pic is simply the BEST, because we felt like celebs and we stopped traffic to pose here…luckily, because there was no traffic, we didn’t get hit. ; ) !

We had an UNBELIEVABLE crew, and we made some lifelong friends that we still keep in touch with. That’s probably the highlight of the whole night.

Look at all these Dapper Dads!

And these ladies, I can’t say enough about. They all possess the kind of Beauty that radiates from the inside out. They are so much fun, such kind-hearted women; my only regret is that we don’t live closer.

And what an entertaining experience it was to see the real red carpet, behind all the smoke and mirrors!

IMG_4010

Of course, we had to take a quick pose in front of the infamous Grammy sign on the red carpet. I’m just not sure why I thought I needed to bend down to get in the shot? hmmmm. Maybe I was star-struck.

IMG_4015

The awards show was more like a concert, and it was absolutely hands-down the best live music event I’ve ever been to. Beyonce and Jay-z got pretty crazy in the opening scene, and then Pink did acrobatics above us, Daft Punk and Pharrel lit up the stage, and we had a great view of John Legend singing “All of Me” to his wife under the spotlight. It was 3 hours of beautiful music including some legends like Paul and Ringo, and the very old Highway Men; I wish I could go back every year.

And the cherry on top? Meeting the star of one of my vices, reality TV (it’s so bad, it’s good). Tom, the bartender from Vanderpump Rules was so nice and later we even got a private tour from the owner of the restaurant! I think it had something to do with Guillermo’s obsession with the Lady in Red, the true superstar of the night, Katels.

Besides being in starvation mode from 11am until 9pm (no food during filming), everything was perfection. I would love to go back, but if we never do, we made amazing memories to last. We can’t thank Dan and Valishia enough for including us.

January: Beach Day in the Bay?

We have had the mildest winter I can ever remember in my entire NorCal life and we are taking full advantage of the sun and record temps! This is a day I will never forget (but just in case, I am blogging about it, too) because it was a random trip to Alameda and it was simply FUN FUN FUN!

IMG_3874

IMG_3880

While we were there for a few hours the tide completely changed and the beach transformed into kiddie pools and sandbars and within minutes my boys were pants-less!

IMG_3885

When I look at these pics, I can hear their preschool laughter, unabashed, unfiltered, and unrestrained; it fills my heart. May I never forget that sound…

I am ABSOLUTELY falling in love with the bay.

Pioneer Pride

Season is underway and as usual, we can’t wait until the weekend to watch Gus’s games. I love this pic below and feel so much happiness when I see him succeeding in his dream career.  It fills my heart with pure joy that he is already becoming such a dedicated, passionate and loving Coach in his first year.

Adventures of a SAHM

The sun is out…the boys are already restless; it’s time for an adventure. These are the BEST days for me as a Stay-At-Home-Mom. I get easily bored and unmotivated under a strict and monotonous schedule in the workplace, in fact, almost every job I’ve ever had just got plain suffocating after the 6-month mark…all except one that is:

IMG_3741

Because with my boys, I get to create the schedule and the adventure and it’s always different and changing. The love and enthusiasm for learning and adventure that my boys have is infectious; and they can’t wait to hop in the car and go explore.  And let’s be honest, it’s January; if I don’t get these two rambunctious wrestling frenemies out of the house I may need an intervention. : )

IMG_3744

So today we explored zero gravity in space…

IMG_3745

IMG_3749

Played a matching game with sharp teeth…

IMG_3750

Took a trip to Mars in a pod…

IMG_3751

IMG_3752

IMG_3755

Created our own lunar phases with the coolest spinning chair ever…

IMG_3761

IMG_3762

IMG_3768

And even had time for dress-up…

IMG_3770

We even checked out a new place the same day because they weren’t quite tired-out yet. Well, actually, I think my Groupon was about to expire, and I am too frugal to let it go to waste.

IMG_3772

IMG_3776

Though this museum was teeny and quick, the boys LOVED it.  The control tower with the voice-overs and realistic sound effects was a hit. And now onto my second favorite part of my job…the kids fall asleep in the back seat, and I get to listen to adult music for a gloriously peaceful trek home. Maybe this is the real reason why I love adventures with my boys? Hmmmmm. Guess we’ll never know.

Pioneer Roadtrip

I got to fly down with the team for one of their SoCal trips this year, without the kiddos. It was a great break for Mommy (me) and best of all, 3 of my favorite women in the world live in So Cal!

It had been YEARS, since I got a fun night out with my best friends without our kids. Believe me the kid play-dates are almost just as fun, but there is something PRICELESS about chatting with your old friends without 8 million interruptions from your darling offspring.

IMG_3843

IMG_3844

And spending time with my AMAZING Sis, Molls,  and her gigglin’, smilin’ squeezable chunk was so nice because I was able to give him true Auntie attention without having my kids there. One of the hardest things about being an Auntie with kids, is that I rarely get to spend those special bonding moments with my nieces or nephews without, once again, 8 million interruptions from my darling boys.

IMG_3847

And even during a busy road trip, Gus got to hold his PRECIOUS nephew! There is a really cute pic of the Jax meet n’ greet with Uncle Gus, but I can’t find it! Argh.

“Pea” and Cousins Celebrate 1

This sweet, sweet gal is already 1! The boys and I drove up to Roseville for the day to celebrate this HUGE day in a tiny girl’s life. Capri is a little tink with a gentle manner and huge heart. We love her so much and feel so fortunate to be able to be back in Cali to spend moments like these with the Van Horns.

IMG_3786

Cousins and friends helped her eat cake and open all her fun gifts!

IMG_3783

IMG_3785

She handled the cake with perfection.

IMG_3788

As always, the Hostess with the Mostess, celebrated in style through proud mommy tears and all!
