Sunriver Adventure, Part 3!

Yes, there’s a part 3! I can’t believe looking back at all these pics (since I’m 7 months late on this blog) that we actually did all that ADVENTURE in one week. Yet, we still felt rested and absolutely NOT READY to go home. What an amazing place Nana and Papa envisioned a long time ago for the family to come together and make memories.

Bo has been talking about going fishing for a VERY long time. Well, Papa planned a little trip for all of us to head out on a beautiful nearby lake and FISH!

and Nana and Papa had some hilarious moments that almost ended in a capsize.

And though we didn’t get any bites, Bo still had a smile on his face because as always, he was just simply excited to be learning something new.

 

Another first time was the Pony Rides! Bo has been very afraid since we tried to have him ride one at the State Fair when he was two. Well, guys, it was a success! And Ace was all about it and was totally fearless. Probably helps to have a big brother to give you confidence.

And yes, there’s more! We also spent a fun day was at the Rec Center that has a HUGE pool, waterslides, sand pit, and lazy river. And this is also just a quick 10 minute bike ride away.

The village with all the shopping and restaurants has a kids’ area with bumper cars, bounce houses, mini-golf, and a train! Bo conquered yet another fear on this very steep slide.

And the Lodge not only has a few great restaurants, but also nightly events for the kids. Tonight was roasting marshmellows by the fire for s’mores and meeting the locals!

And what’s a trip to Sunriver without some Dad/Son friendly competition?

This was a vacation to never forget and we can only hope that we can go back next year!!! Gus Sr. and Ger Bear, we can’t thank you enough for sharing this amazing place with us and Bo and Ace couldn’t have had more fun. This is truly a vacation that will be talked about for YEARS to come.

Sunriver, you will be missed.

A Date to Remember: Sunriver

Gus and I still talk about this day and both agree it is one of our top ten dates!  And we’ve been on A LOT of dates since 2001. I had to do a quick post, so we’d always remember this day.

While one son napped and the other hung out with Papa, we rode our bikes all along the miles and miles of paved roads through the woods, past the lodges and homes, along the golf courses, and along the river. And shocker, we ended up in the Village in the local brewery.

The afternoon break was such a fun time for us to reconnect during a very stressful, hectic time of moving and starting over back in California. We both LOVE adventure and we LOVE having fun together, so this was our ideal date.

No make-up, no fancy restaurant or dresses or big events, just us laughing hysterically about life, our two crazy boys, and recounting all of our great years. And I had the BEST, the very BEST drink I’ve ever had in my life…maybe 3 of them. : ) RUM BERRY FRESCA, can’t wait until next summer.

Sunriver Adventure, Part 2

Today we ventured out to see some of Sunriver’s beautiful nature beyond the resort. Our hike to the Falls was a true step back into prehistoric times since Bo transformed into a Dinosaur and started looking for T-Rex tracks.

We were in good hands in case we stumbled upon a T-Rex, this dino has skills.

We made it to the falls and had a lunch overlooking the gorgeous white water!

And if that wasn’t enough, we decided to stop by the Volcano that is also just up the road. I’ve never been to a volcano and to be able to walk along the aftermath of the eruption was a very cool experience.

And the little scientist went to work right when we got home while little brother caught up on some much needed zzzzzzzzzz’s…

And after a long day of adventure like that, it’s time for the boys to hit the spa.

Sunriver Adventure, Part 1

Gus and I are in unanimous agreement, this is the best vacation we’ve taken with the boys thus far. I don’t know if it was their ages, or if Sunriver, Oregon is just that GREAT, but the boys were SO MUCH FUN. And that is saying a lot if you’ve traveled with young kids…

The long drive included singing, dancing, laughing, sleeping and finally “bear watching” when we got to the woods.

We went straight to dinner with Nana and Papa, and Papa began some very engaging story-telling…

The week began with gorgeous weather, a very friendly deer family who visited all week, and some teepee building.

Every day we went on a new adventure. Walking to the nature center and meeting eagles and barn owls, or bike riding to the river and looking for frogs and turtles, was usually how the day started. These boys were embracing Oregon nature, safari costumes and all.

And that gorgeous river with beautiful bridges stretched across it is always a perfect backdrop for another afternoon bike ride:

Papa LOVED the bikes this year and was quite the master of the road!
