A Day with Diesel

Bo is OBSESSED with trains. Thomas the Train and Friends always win out as his FAVORITE toys and making them come-to-life for him in the real world is pure entertainment.

We only live about 5 minutes from Old Town Sac, and it is a MECCA for my little train dreamer with a rail yard and historic trains galore that his unbridled imagination can leap into!

Every train that somewhat resembles a character from Chuggington (Disney train cartoon) or Thomas, Bo instantly names it, makes best friends with it, often serenades it, and then he is pretty much ECSTATIC the rest of the afternoon.

DIESEL (from Thomas and Friends) was his recent potty training present and today we FOUND him out on the track in the flesh!

Seeing his innocent excitement combined with his overflowing imagination is truly a blessing. THIS KID IS SIMPLY PRECIOUS!

After all that train canoodling, it’s time for a picnic on the river!

We love you, OLD TOWN! So much so, that Bo cries and wines when we have to say goodbye to his MAGICAL world come-to-life, smokey stacks and all. CHOO-CHOOOOO!

Gymnastics, Cookies and Lights!

OH MY…and in usual Hannah-style, it was all in one day.

When Gus is on a road-trip I have to get creative, or I will simply go insane in the house for 4 days straight with no reserves. Sometimes I do take it a little too far and try to do a little too much, but that’s why I have a digital camera: I delete bad pics showcasing meltdowns and tantrums and exploit the good times.

All in all it was an amazing day for Bo starting with Gymnastics class with Kendall and her friend Olivia. For his first time, he was pretty good at following directions and he loved the balancing and “vaulting” jumps, but mostly he loved the foam pit!!! Honeslty, though, how bad do you want to JUMP IN?!!!

Also, his bravery was AMAZING when he leaped off this ledge to the foam below..twice! Bo is a HUGE…ok, how do I put this nicely, well, Bo has fears. Both of his parents were WIMPS (we still won’t watch scary movies or go on rollercoasters) as kids as well, so I was incredibly proud of him that he overcame his fear and jumped! I would have NEVER!

Next it was cookie-cutting time at Olivia’s house and the dough Mandy made was AMAZING! So amazing, in fact, that most of it went into the mouths of our kids before it went in the oven.

Finally, we went to Pebble Creek Drive for some amazing Christmas lights in Rocklin! Every year for as long as I can remember, this neighborhood boasts beautiful lights, sidewalk cocoa and fire-pits, and best of all, hand-painted Disney characters on every lawn!

From Lightning and Mater, to Thomas and Percy, Bo couldn’t contain his sheer enthusiasm for everything CARTOON! He was singing carols, whistling choo-choos and giggling at everyone and everything! This kid was on fire.

Bo and Kendall had another AMAZING day together! Little do they know that in 5 days, it gets even better.

Having a 2 year old can be terribly trying throughout most of the year, but I HAVE NEVER had so much fun at the holidays as I am now with my lil’ Bo-ster!

His enthusiasm for everything that is Christmas Cliché’ utterly fills our home with so much HOLIDAY spirit that I wish December would NEVER end. I honestly don’t even get annoyed that we have to listen to Rudolph the Red-Nose Reindeer at least 10 times a day.

Unfortunately, lyric-learning talents are genetic. Gus and I are equally AWFUL at hearing and repeating correct lyrics…we kind of just regurgitate lyrics from most songs and hope no one notices. Obviously, this has never stopped me from belting out a tune at any given time of the day, and Bo will sing any tune on que…for ANYONE. Yes, I exploit the hell out of it.

Rudolph and Frosty the Snowman are his favorites, but yesterday in the car he started singing along to “Silver and Gold”…a.k.a, “Sillllllver and Bo.” Yes, apparently “Gold” is actually “Bo” and my son is a “decoration on every Christmas tree.” And yes, it is the CUTEST thing in the world, and YES, I cried a tiny bit when I saw him singing these lyrics at the top of his lungs, vein popping out of neck and all.

SO FIRED UP IN FACT THAT HE STARTED DROOLING FIERCELY AND CONSISTENTLY ON THE 5th DAY OF CHRISTMAS…

Thanksgiving!

Here are just a few shots on Thanksgiving because I’m trying to not ALWAYS ruin the moment by saying, “Wait, let me get my camera.” And then that is usually followed up with, “Do you know where my camera is?” So on that note, I’m very thankful that other people usually know where I leave my belongings. And no, I haven’t lost any of my children yet.

Of course it was a wonderful day of thankfulness and gluttony with our beautiful family, but MY HEART OVERFLOWS for these two precious Thanksgiving babes below…
